Maserati - Assembly Tasks

These tasks build and customize a Maserati MC Stradale for use as a Go Baby Go! car. Ignore assembly instructions that come with the car.

Assemble car and modify wiring

These tasks start from a car in the box and end with a complete car with the controls modified to enable hands-only use of the car.

After you complete the tasks in this section, before the child can drive it, you must fit the car to the child as described in the section that follows.

  1. Prepare work area to assemble car
  2. Unpack the car and prepare it for assembly
  3. Disconnect the battery
  4. Remove the dashboard
  5. Disconnect the foot pedal
  6. Mount the push button to the steering wheel
  7. Wire the button on the steering wheel UPDATED
  8. Reassemble the modified steering wheel
  9. Complete the steering wheel
  10. Assemble the toggle switch assembly
  11. Install the toggle switch assembly
  12. Connect the battery and motor wires UPDATED
  13. Modify the dashboard wiring (RED Maserati)
  14. Modify the dashboard wiring (PINK Maserati)
  15. Assemble the modified dashboard
  16. Perform final assembly and electrical tests
  17. Using the multimeter

Fit car to child

Review these steps and videos prior to the build event to become familiar with the designs and construction techniques used to fit a car to a specific child. To watch all of the videos will take slightly more than half-an-hour.

  1. Review the Introduction Video.
  2. Collect supplies and tools.
  3. Review the support video and discuss the child’s needs with the therapist and consider these topics and videos.

    2. Whether the doors will be usable or closed permanently
    3. The back support requirements
    4. The lateral support requirements
  4. Determine support cage required and the support cage mounting options
    These options depend on whether the doors will open or not and are explained in these videos.
  5. Construct the support cage and attach the support elements to the car

    4. Head support pads
    5. Seat back and harness
  6. Add padding to the support cage.
  7. Conduct final check and deliver to child.
